GIAP’s Tandem AM B “Blue” Ammonia Technology
Low-carbon Ammonia Technology
Low-carbon or “blue” ammonia refers to ammonia produced from natural gas by using the carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) method. As an optimal solution, GIAP has developed the Tandem AM B technology that converts natural gas using the Tandem technology, consumes nitrogen/hydrogen mix from the production cycle as fuel in the gas preheater, captures and liquefies CO2, which is then buried or reused. All this helps reduce natural gas consumption and capture 90% CO2 emissions.
GIAP’s Tandem AM В ammonia technology includes the following stages:
1) Natural gas compression;
2) Natural gas desulfurization;
3) Reforming using Tandem technology;
4) Carbon oxide conversion;
5) Removal of carbon dioxide from converted gas;
6) CO2 capture and liquefaction;
7) Methanation of residual carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide;
8) Syngas compression and syngas drying;
9) Ammonia synthesis.
