The GIAP’s radial packing may be used in any vertical ammonia converter. The unique engineering solution realized in the GIAP’s radial packing can be employed both for new packing fabrication and revamping of the existing radial packing.
Additional perforated headers along the circumference of the catalyst basket near the gas feeding wall is a distinctive feature of the GIAP’s converter radial packing.
Modification to syngas feeding inside the radial packing aims at reducing flow resistance and improving specific capacity of the converter by expanding the cross-sectional area of syngas feeding channels to the reaction zone and decelerating its local velocity.
This engineering solution is easy to implement, reduces flow resistance, improves specific throughput capacity, catalyst service life and overall reactor reliability.
