Catalysts Used in Ammonia Synthesis Processes

Ammonia synthesis is a multi-staged process where N2 removal is the most difficult stage. Namely, this stage is directly affected by the catalysts used:
- Magnetite
- Reduced magnetite
- Wustite
- Reduced wustite
The results of reactor tests on SMART CATALYST catalysts performed in active petrochemical plants demonstrate an improved degree of conversion and shorter regeneration period, and the use of magnetite and reduced magnetite catalysts both slackens environmental impact and accelerates the process significantly.
Wustite catalysts show special performance, as they take more time to lose their activity, recover at lower temperatures within a shorter period, and consume less oxygen.
