Machine building recovery: an engineering company's insight
As part of the INNOPROM-2024 international industrial exhibition in Yekaterinburg, a panel discussion entitled "We Need Sovereignty. Prospects for the domestic chemical engineering recovery" was held.
Egor Krivchun, Chief Executive Officer of JSC GIAP, made a presentation: "Domestic chemical engineering: an insight of a Russian engineering company".
"As of today, we see a huge demand for the products of the Russian machine-building complex. GIAP Group alone today has an order portfolio of more than RUB 18bn, of which more than RUB 15bn. – is equipment that we are ready to place for manufacturing in Russia. In addition, we see the potential to increase this volume by 2 times in the next year and by 10 times within the next five years, - emphasized Egor Krivchun. - We have signed contracts for the revamping of 6 ammonia plants, and we see more than 20 unit installations in the perspective of the next few years, plus new construction. Furthermore urea, nitric acid and ammonium nitrate. This is from RUB 300bn to RUB 1 trillion of equipment within five years".
The discussion participants concluded that the Russian machine building industry has a chance to reach a new level of production, taking advantage of the current moment of high and solvent demand, to build a concept of its development, increase supplies and expand the range of products, find investments, personnel and actively expand by commissioning new production facilities. The growth potential of the domestic chemical machine building industry is far from being exhausted and the plants need to have time to occupy the vacated market niches.
"There is a need to co-ordinate the industry and tie producers into one chain. To be efficient and not afraid of risk. We are ready to place orders with factories, ready to pay. We need manufacturers who hold up promises and do. Our orders are the ones of manufacturers who need equipment of the right quality and in the right time. As soon as the plants start producing equipment, we guarantee that their capacities will be in demand," Egor Krivchun highlighted.
Import substitution of main process equipment production of chemical industry enterprises is a priority while implementing technological sovereignty policy. This task is especially acute and urgent for equipment with continuous operation mode, operating in aggressive environments under high pressure, previously supplied from unfriendly countries. This custom-made equipment has a long production cycle and the need for it is of unit character, which creates risks for both parties of the contract. How to change the situation and make the development and production of unique heavy engineering equipment for chemical industries attractive, what should change in the mechanisms of state support? These and other questions were disputed by the discussion participants: heads of the relevant federal authorities, manufacturers of equipment for the chemical industry, companies using this equipment, representatives of scientific engineering and design organizations.
The central focus of this year's exhibition is "Technological Partnership: Shaping the Image of the Future". More than 40 foreign delegations participate in INNOPROM-2024. Over 700 Russian and international exhibitors demonstrate their products on 50,000 m2 of exhibition area.
