IV Scientific-Practical Conference “Development of Oil and Gas Processing Production Sites and Prospective Technologies for Hydrocarbon Crude Processing” took place within the XIV St. Petersburg International Gas Forum (SPIGF)
XIV St. Petersburg International Gas Forum is taking place on October 7-10, 2025 in St. Petersburg.
The central event of the SPIGF business program and gas processing market was the IV Scientific-Practical Conference named after I.P. Afanasyev.
The conference was devoted to development of refinery plants and prospective hydrocarbon crude processing technologies. The conference moderator was Yury Lebedev, Director of Gas Processing Division at PJSC Gazprom.
The nitrogen industry at the conference was represented by JSC GIAP through Arkady Merkulov, Deputy CEO – Head of Technologies and EP projects Division. The report about prospects of natural gas processing to ammonia and methanol was presented in the first session of the conference what demonstrates growing importance of this gas processing tendency.
Arkady Merkulov presented the analysis of ammonia market status and potential participation of gas producing companies in new projects. GIAP highlighted prospects for construction of ammonia-urea complexes in Russia as one of the ways of natural gas monetization ensuring integrated development of the territories and increasing marginality of the gas processing sector.
During the conference the participants discussed trends and challenges of the gas industry, experience in the use of catalysts and adsorbents at the RF gas chemical facilities, implementation of the projects for catalyst import substitution, manpower training for gas processing and gas chemistry.
Among the event participants were engineering companies, research and design institutes, catalysts producers and vendors, petrochemical and gas chemical enterprises. The conference itself was organized by PJSC Gazprom.
It’s worth mentioning that for GIAP this was a great honour to receive invitation and present the report at such a significant event. This once again demonstrates the recognized leadership of GIAP in ammonia industry.
