GIAP team conquered the “Race of Heroes”: unity, will and self-conquest
A great event called "Race of Heroes" took place in Mendeleevsk on July 25th. GIAP team proved that no insurmountable obstacles exist for the true professionals. Ten brave GIAP employees reached the race track for challenge to take through its paces and came back not only with coveted badges but also with invaluable experience in teamwork.
The team members were Denis Kopylov, Margarita Rudnik, Galina Svezhintseva, Liliya Kravchenko, Irina Zhaley, Natalya Podgornaya, Mikhail Mulyar, Ekaterina Kolesnikova, Yuliya Neroda and Elena Chernaya. For most of them this was the first experience of such an extreme challenge.
The race conditions were really challenging: scorching heat, a challenging track and dozens of complicated obstacles. But the team took the challenge seriously and even creatively — the participants prepared atmospheric makeup in the style of Mexican skulls and proudly flew the company’s flag along the track emphasizing team unity and company spirit.
The race extent was fascinating: Mendeleevsk, one small town in Russia hosting the “Race of Heroes” this year graded up to the major capitals in the number of participants and surpassed other cities of the country in the track length. 3,300 persons took part in the race, and the total number of festival guests reached 13,000.
Along the track, the participants faced with water obstacles, mud, sharp climbs and other serious challenges. GIAP team wasn't chasing records at any cost — the main goal for the colleagues was to finish the race track together, support each other and not give up even when running low.
GIAP participated in the "Race of Heroes" upon invitation of the company's partner and customer JSC Ammoni, who supported the event.
Arkady Merkulov, Deputy CEO and Head of Technologies and EP Projects Division of GIAP, expressed hope that the company team's participation in the "Race of Heroes" will become an annual tradition.
Sergey Gorlov, Head of Large-scale Projects Implementation Management Office said:
“The event is a great opportunity to take a fresh look at everyone's strength and understand the areas for improvement. The race has become a new format for business interaction with event planners and sponsors: sport and teamwork unite, motivate and help build trust relationships.”
For GIAP, the "Race of Heroes" is not just a sporting challenge, but an important part of its corporate culture. Such kinds of events strengthen trust and confidence in the team and clearly demonstrate that any task, even the most complicated one, can be solved together. It is this spirit — perseverance, mutual support and wish to improve — that makes GIAP team really strong.
