GIAP participated in Conference "Russia and CIS Leaders: Mineral Fertilizers 2022”
The key topic of discussion during the event was localization by Russian providers of technologies and equipment used for upgrade of the active capacities and construction of new ones. The Conference took place on October 12-13 in Sochi. GIAP was represented by Deputy General Director – Commerce and Development Director Oleg Kostin, and Commercial Director Arkadiy Merkulov.
Oleg Kostin made the Report “GIAP’s experience and capabilities in ammonia plant capacity expansion”. The speaker pointed out that nowadays there are 34 ammonia units operating in Russia with a total production of about 19 million ton per year. In this country, 42% of ammonia production capacities are based on GIAP’s unique technologies.
In particular, the managers touched upon GIAP’s solutions for greenfield projects. These included GIAP's “SMR AM” technology based on steam reforming and GIAP's “Tandem AM” technology using Tandem natural gas conversion process that reduces natural gas consumption and CO2 emissions. GIAP’s “Tandem AM B” “Blue” Ammonia Technology was another know-how discussed.
Thanks to our long-term record of work with Russia-based fertilizer producers, GIAP is able to offer optimized solutions for comprehensive revamping to capacities of 2100-2300 tpd, refurbishment of particular assemblies and supply of ammonia synthesis catalysts.
During the Conference, participants discussed trends and prospects of the Russian fertilizers market, experiences of companies in revamping turbogenerating sets for nitric acid plants, and capabilities of improving energy-saving urea and ammonia nitrate production processes. The event was attended by the representatives of chemical companies, design institutes, technology, equipment and services providers, and governmental authorities. While sharing their expertise, reports were presented by Gazprombank, EuroChem, Metafrax Group, NIUIF, Stamicarbon, and others.
