GIAP shares experience in ammonia plant revamping during the Conference “Russia and CIS Leaders: Gas and Chemistry 2023”
The largest industry-specific conference held on 18-19 April in Saint-Petersburg was attended by JSC GIAP’s Director for Commerce and Development Oleg Kostin, and Commercial Director Arkadiy Merkulov. The event was organized by Energy Leader.
The Conference became a platform of sharing experiences, and allowed the attendants to discuss the existing import substitution opportunities, as well as to elaborate optimal approaches to completion of key investment projects being at various maturity stages due to the current situation.
Oleg Kostin pointed out that there were 34 ammonia units operating in Russia with a total production of about 19 million tons per year. The speaker noted that 14 of the above units employed the GIAP's unique technologies.
In his speech, the company official touched upon the current trends in the industry, among which were licensors quitting the Russian market, reduction in total sales of ammonia products, and shift to “green” and “blue” technologies.
In details, Oleg Kostin dwelled on GIAP’s long-term record of collaboration with Russia-based fertilizer producers, whereby enabling the company to offer optimized solutions for comprehensive revamping to capacities of 2100-2300 tpd, refurbishment of adsorption treatment section, natural gas saturation, and compression of syngas from the dryer. The speaker also presented the GIAP’s unique Tandem AM technology, which uses the Company’s original natural gas conversion solution instead of conventional steam reforming to cut down natural gas consumption and CO2 emissions, and offer a high potential for further expansion.
The event was attended by design and engineering firms, chemical and oil&gas companies, technology licensors, large industrial plants, producers and equipment vendors. The representatives discussed the development and achievements in the field of gas monetization, engineering and process modelling in the chemical industry, and touched upon operational aspects of work with EPC contractors in emerging conditions.
