GIAP and Uralhimmash: a new development stage of Russian chemical engineering
Russian companies JSC GIAP and JSC Uralhimmash have successfully implemented the design and manufacture of two key items of equipment for the revamping of GIAP's AM-76 ammonia production workshop.
In the context of cooperation, the companies manufactured and shipped the stripper and saturator to the Customer.
The project became a significant event for the development of the domestic mechanical engineering. The specialists of JSC GIAP developed the design documentation of the columns, and JSC Uralhimmash manufactured them at its production site in Yekaterinburg. The manufacturing process required a high level of competence and took over a year. During the project implementation the issues of special steels engineering and restoring competences in terms of manufacturing high-pressure equipment for ammonia production were resolved.
Due to its large dimensions the equipment is transported by dedicated railway transport. The stripper with a diameter of 1.5m and a length of more than 30m was dispatched on the 4th of April. The saturator with a diameter of 1.8m and a length of more than 25m was dispatched on the 11th of April.
The successful project completion demonstrates the successful recovery of both the technological potential of Russian engineering and chemical engineering in Russia and opens up new horizons for the development of the domestic industry. The partnership between JSC GIAP and JSC Uralhimmash creates a solid foundation for the implementation of similar projects in the future.
