GIAP of the Future

The first ever Conference GIAP-2023: Cooperation and Efficiency took place in Dzerzhinsk. The event was aimed at building communications between employees from various locations and drafting a list of key tasks to achieve the company’s strategic goals.

For two days, countryside hotel Chaika hosted the GIAP’s managers and key staff from Moscow, Dzerzhinsk, Novomoskovsk and Togliatti who were involved in roadmap development to optimize various disciplines.

Starting from the current status analysis, the conference attendees split into groups to define in detail the actions plan of how to develop proprietary technologies, build efficient teamwork between divisions, regulate operations activities, create an integrated system of knowledge and QMS, upgrade the planning system and introduce Russian software. Separately discussed were the issues of staff recruitment and establishment of the R&D division.

 Strategy: drawing conclusions and setting tasks

The conference opening speech was delivered by GIAP’s Director Egor Krivchun who noted that the implementation of the company’s strategy should embrace all the employees.

- Our mission is to create best technologies and successfully implement engineering and EPC projects. To achieve it, we need talented staff and contribute to their growth. This conference will help us discuss and allocate the company’s tasks, draw a list of projects to improve GIAP’s performance, underlined Egor Krivchun.

The key projects and improved performance amid reduced costs were touched upon by GIAP Deputy General Director for Commerce and Development Oleg Kostin and Deputy General Director for Engineering Dmitry Maslov. The discussion was followed by Commercial Director Arkady Merkulov who called to pay more attention to new today’s challenges – development of proprietary technologies.

The address by Financial Director Artyom Starovoitov was not left without interest. The director told of how his subordinate unit operates and highlighted the necessity to introduce network scheduling to improve project implementation controls.

In his report, GIAP’s Director for Digital Transformation Aleksey Sedov touched upon the use if foreign software and introduction of Russian software applications.

The first part of the conference was concluded by HR Director Svetlana Volostnova. Svetlana dwelt on new principles of social policy, introduced voluntary medical insurance for each and every company employee and growth in the career development system.

Group work: roadmaps under development

The second part of the conference was dedicated to more practical issues, as the participants were suggested to split into groups and analyze the company's existing areas of development, as well as to develop project milestones bringing the company to the highest results.

The outcome was well-elaborated algorithms of creating an integrated system of knowledge, teamwork between units and improving work planning, including new measures and approaches to man-hours estimation. After task completion, each group defended its ideas before the other participants and judges whose functions were accomplished by the GIAP managing staff.

The topics turned out to be real acute: each discussion involved more and more participants whereby demonstrating the degree of engagement by the employees into the company’s life. Thus, the topic most talked about was how to recruit skillful personnel. The speakers noted that at present, GIAP remains among the industry technology providers backed by its 90 years of experience in development and engineering of ammonia and nitrogen fertilizers plants. Today, GIAP can offer not only a job in a large and sustainable company, but also comfortable working environment, competitively high wages, various social safeguards.

Establishment of the GIAP’s corporate university was among the key topics discussed, which would help build a knowledge transfer system within the company, and develop and train future employees while catering for the actual agenda in the real world of engineering.

Practical steps to develop proprietary technologies were of particular interest during discussions. The participants noted that not only an intellectual property protection system, and GIAP full-scale database should be put in place within the company, but a regular search for promising technologies in the market as well.

The event ended with summing up the activities. Egor Krivchun thanked everyone for their fruitful efforts and noted that all the projects elaborated would be implemented and encourage GIAP to improve KPI’s.

- I can say confidently that all the conference tasks are completed. Shortly, the roadmaps elaborated will become part of our daily routines and contribute to GIAP growth as a technology company employing the industry best manpower, said Egor Krivchun.
