The future of the chemical industry lies in advanced engineering and technology

Artem Starovoytov, CEO of JSC GIAP, spoke about new market challenges and successfully implemented GIAP projects for the production of ammonia, ammonium nitrate and nitric acid during the 3rd International Congress and Exhibition "Nitrogen and Syngas. Uzbekistan and CIS".

Artem Starovoytov noted that today the majority of nitrogen industry units have been in operation for more than 30 years, and therefore, in order to ensure trouble-free and safe production output in the mid-term, the tasks of unit modernization remain crucial.

To solve this issue, the CEO of JSC GIAP suggested pursuing several approaches at once including increasing localization of equipment manufacturing, searching for new suppliers and minimizing the cost of equipment manufacturing through its typification.

In his speech the Company's expert addressed of new challenges of the process and engineering market, among which he highlighted the transition to new digital formats and Russian software, increasing market share under highly competitive environment through an effective pricing strategy and mastering new approaches to designing that meet current requirements of customers.

The CEO spoke in more detail about projects for the production of ammonia, ammonium nitrate and nitric acid successfully completed by GIAP. For example, the Company's specialists managed to reconstruct and increase the capacity of ammonia units at Grodno Azot, Dorogobuzh, Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat, and construct a new ammonia unit at PJSC Acron.

The speaker presented specifically the GIAP ammonia synthesis column packing and catalyst manufacturing and supply capabilities, which allow to increase the ammonia unit capacity up to 2000 tons per day and reduce the installation time of the package from the moment of unit shutdown to the start of catalyst recovery up to 40 days.

Over the past 15 years GIAP's unique process solutions have been used to reconstruct and revamp ammonium nitrate production facilities at PJSC Azot, Berezniki and Kirovo-Chepetsk branches of JSC UCC URALCHEM. In September 2023 a new ammonium nitrate granulation plant was commissioned at PJSC KuibyshevAzot the design and construction of which was carried out by GIAP specialists using proprietary technology under an EPC contract.

The CEO of JSC GIAP also presented the Company's cases on revamping, technical upgrade and construction of new nitric acid units of AK-72 and UKL-7 type at JSC Minudobrenia, JSC Nevinnomyssky Azot, PJSC Dorogobuzh and Kirovo-Chepetsk branch of JSC UCC URALCHEM.

The Congress and Exhibition "Nitrogen Syngas. Uzbekistan and CIS" became a unique international professional platform where industry leaders discussed the largest capital investment projects for the construction and modernization of production facilities, as well as opportunities to improve the efficiency of existing nitrogen, methanol, ammonia and mineral fertilizer producers. Presentations were made by representatives of the largest synthesis gas processing plants, authorities, regulatory and supervisory bodies, process licensors, developers, manufacturers and suppliers of equipment, engineering and design-construction companies, technology and service providers. More than 200 experts took part in the Congress, including the heads of JSC Uzkimyosanoat, JSC Grodno Azot, MAXAM-CHIRCHIQ, JSC Metafrax Chemicals, Indorama Fertilizers, JSC MCC Eurochem, etc.  The event was held on November 20-21 in Tashkent.
