Diving into profession
Summer work experience internship was finished at GIAP. The students of the Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology could take a closer look at the peculiarities of the future profession, study the main principles of the technological processes design and apply their knowledges in divisions of the Company.
The main purpose of work experience internship – consolidation of theoretical knowledge, training of professional skills and abilities in the conditions of the real job activity. Often, namely this part of the training becomes the start of future career of the graduates.
Within a month, the students of the faculty for non-organic substances’ technology and high-temperature materials, digital technologies and chemical engineering of the Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology were familiarizing with the history of GIAP, mastering the specialized engineering software programs, gathering the materials for future graduation work.
The objects of the study were the units of ammonia plant AM-76 at the Grodno Azot, ammonium nitrate plant AC-72 at the KAO Azot and nitric acid plant AK-72.
The students practiced in carrying out process and hydraulic calculations of reactors, rectification columns and heat-exchanging vessels of the natural gas saturation, desulfurization and ammonia gas production stripping stages. Within their practical work the students managed to study the details of the nitric acid neutralization process in ammonium nitrate production, to perform thermohydraulic calculation of the nitrous gas condenser-cooler of the nitric acid plant.
According to the feedback from the practice supervisors and specialists of the “Technology” Management Office of GIAP, all students have done a great job on their tasks, studied a big volume of the specialized literature, and what is the most important – they got practical experience in work as a process engineer.
